STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and applications designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

Position Overview:

The Immunology Teaching Assistant helps instructors explain important immunological ideas, facilitates lab exercises or debates, and guides students through the intricacies of immune system diseases and functioning.

Location: Remote

Time commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week

Start Date: January 6, 2025

Key Responsibility:

  • Teaching Support: Conduct virtual office hours, facilitate discussion sessions, and help with course material centered on immunological methods, clinical applications, and innate and adaptive immunity.
  • Lab Assistance: Set up and assist with online or live simulations of immunological tests, such as ELISA methods and antigen-antibody interactions.
  • Grading and Feedback: Evaluate homework, tests, and quizzes; offer helpful criticism to improve students' comprehension.
  • Resource Management: Create and oversee educational resources like case studies, illustrations, and additional readings.
  • Student Involvement: Promote critical thinking by leading conversations about practical uses of immunology, such as the creation of vaccines and autoimmune diseases.
  • Technical Support: Help students use web resources and software for immunology simulations or data analysis.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, or a similar discipline is required; graduate students in these fields are preferred.
  • solid knowledge of immunological concepts, such as molecular and cellular immunology.
  • Having prior experience with immunological techniques (such as flow cytometry and ELISA) is advantageous.
  • outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • It is advantageous to have prior teaching or tutoring experience.
  • strong multitasking abilities and organizing capabilities.
