This role will become a part of the organization's board of directors. We are looking for someone with deep financial experience that can help guide the organization on the path to sustainable revenue generation, diversification of revenue sources, and a growth trajectory to fund the programs having an impact against our mission.

We are seeking someone that would qualify and be a passionate Fundraising Development Committee Chair. Some of the responsibilities and tasks are:

o The Committee’s job is not simply to raise money. Instead, it is responsible for overseeing the organization’s overall fundraising, and particularly the fundraising done by the board.

o Serves as a peer advocate for the rest of the board to ensure that each board member is fulfilling their responsibilities from a fundraising perspective.

o Develop tools, training and ideas to give board members what they need to be effective fundraisers.

o Educate and curate enthusiastic fundraisers. Build a culture of enthusiasm for fundraising.

o Responsible to ensure we have a diverse portfolio of fundraising channels and oversight on performance for each

o Creates the strategy and an annual ask amount for each board member to achieve.

o During the annual retreat each board member fills out a personal fundraising plan for the upcoming fiscal year. The chair holds each member of the board accountable to the goals set.

o Task forces can be created to work with major donors, research corporate prospects, and help with retention of donors.

o Provide fundraising progress against goals during each quarterly board meeting

o Highlight successes, celebrate and share what is working. Adjust plans as necessary throughout the year

Mission Statement

The mission of Courthouse Dogs Foundation is to promote justice with compassion through the use of professionally trained facility dogs to provide emotional support to everyone in the justice system. Most of these dogs are utilized to support children who have been victims of abuse, helping them feel safe enough to talk with a detective or testify in court. A courthouse facility dog is a professionally trained dog that is placed with a legal professional for the purpose of providing support to individuals in the criminal justice system.

Description

As an independent nonprofit organization, we strive to accomplish our mission by

  • Educating members of the public and legal professionals about the benefits of facility dogs

  • Guiding governmental agencies (prosecutor offices and law enforcement agencies) and nonprofit organizations (child advocacy centers and victim advocacy groups) in program development using a best practices model

  • Supporting nonprofit service dog organizations that train and place facility dogs

  • Encouraging and facilitating scientific research on the use of facility dogs
