Company Overview: The Center for Societal Aspiration (CSA) is a startup 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on empowering and rehabilitating vulnerable community members facing challenges such as addiction, homelessness, and poverty. CSA leverages socially driven technology to foster meaningful change and improve lives.

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and articulate Public Relations Volunteer to join our communications team. The Public Relations Volunteer will play a key role in raising CSA's profile through media outreach, content creation, and strategic messaging. This position offers a unique opportunity to build public relations skills while supporting a transformative cause.

Key Responsibilities:

Media Outreach:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts, journalists, and influencers to enhance CSA's visibility.

  • Draft press releases, pitches, and media alerts to communicate CSA’s mission, programs, and events.

Content Creation:

  • Assist in creating compelling PR content, including newsletters, blog posts, social media copy, and website updates, to engage diverse audiences and attract support.

Event Promotion:

  • Support publicity efforts for CSA events and campaigns, coordinating with the team to ensure cohesive and impactful messaging.

Storytelling:

  • Identify and craft stories from CSA’s initiatives to highlight successes and the human impact of CSA’s work.

Collaborative Projects:

  • Work with the marketing and communications team to develop strategic messaging for brand awareness and community engagement.

Media Monitoring:

  • Monitor media coverage and track PR metrics to assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts and identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field with experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and PR software (e.g., Meltwater, Cision) is a plus.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Passion for nonprofit work and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
