ORGANIZATION: Latino Equality Alliance



Latino Equality Alliance is hosting a Comunity Clean Up in East Los Angeles and we need your help! Become a Project Leader today to help us make this is a wonderful opportunity for Boyle Height's local community, green spaces!

Why: By becoming a Project Leader to help with the Community Clean Up, you'll be providing service to a diverse community! Your time and support will ensure the local green spaces of Boyle Heights are clean and cared for! You will help make a meaningful difference in the lives and communities that need it most.

Who: Latino Equality Alliance is a project of Community Partners, whose mission is to advocate for safety, equity, and wellness for the Latinx Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer + community. The organization strongly focuses on youth empowerment, family acceptance, educational equity, public health, and civic engagement. Through coalitions, they strive to build power to elevate the LGBTQ+ voices in Boyle Heights and the greater East Side communities of Los Angeles.

What to Expect: LEA will be hosting a Community Clean Up in which Project Leaders may be asked to do the following:

Help lead volunteers as you walk in groups around the neighbordhood picking up trash.

Make sure all trash gets put away in respective bins and equipment gets returned to LEA staff.

Lead volunteers with their various roles/projects during the event.

Ensure volunteers are working safely, efficiently, and are having fun!

All project leaders will receive trainings the day of. No experience is necessary!

Water and snacks will be provided!

What's Required:

Senstivity and awareness to volunteer in a primarily LGBTQ+ space that is focused on the intersection of the Latinx and Queer community.

No experience necessary!

Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work (i.e. moving throughout the event site with occasional harsh pavement/walking paths, picking up trash, being on your feet the entire time and bending down, etc.)

Equipment for clean-up such as gloves, trash bags, trash pickers, and vests will be provided!

Although not required, Spanish-speakers are strongly encouraged to sign up!
