Location: Liberia with regular travel across the country

OVERVIEW OF WAVDI

The West Africa Volunteer Development Initiative (WAVDI) is dedicated to strengthening families and building robust communities across West Africa. Our focus spans key areas, including agriculture, education and livelihood, gender and sexual rights, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, capacity-building, governance and rule of law, conflict prevention & peacebuilding, crime and drugs prevention education, and research. We work to ensure access to opportunities by advancing research and solutions that tackle barriers to success.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach involves demonstrating effective practices, influencing decision-makers, and promoting evidence-based strategies. As a regional organization, WAVDI is committed to making a positive impact throughout West Africa.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support the organization’s research and research projects.
    • Engage in the development of research designs, methodology and data collection tools.
    • Identify research respondents and carry out interviews, focus group discussions and administration of different the research tools.
    • Conduct data collection and data analysis activities.
    • Conduct in-depth literature review for research projects.
    • Carry out qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
    • Prepare analysis of research findings and write research reports.
    • Maintain accurate records of interviews while observing confidentiality.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • Advanced undergraduate or graduate student toward a degree
    • Demonstrated familiarity and interest in humanitarian work
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in English
    • Experience in human rights monitoring, documentation and reporting.
    • Enthusiastic about research, evaluation and policy
    • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
    • Good command of MS Word, Excel and knowledge of SPSS and qualitative data analysis software will be an additional advantage.
