Only 4 hours a month will Change 2 Lives!
YMC's unique Gift Centered Approach, was developed to awaken young adults from underserved regions to their power, unique gifts, and purpose by matching them with caring adult mentors participating within a structured group dynamic that builds the emotional resiliency skills and confidence in adolescents to self-actualize into adulthood.
Mentors commit to participating in a 6-9 month program attending scheduled group activities and 1 on 1 sessions on alternating weeks. Staff provides extensive training, resources, and support so the focus can be on nurturing the relationships between mentors and mentees.
As the year comes to a close and another begins - choose hope, celebrate resiliency, and discover the healing power of mentoring a gift that will change both of your lives.

About Youth Mentoring Connection
Location:
8407 South Vermont Avenue, LOS ANGELES, CA 90006, US
Mission Statement
Youth Mentoring Connection awakens at-risk youth to their power, unique gifts and purpose by matching them with caring adult mentors and placing that "match" within a structured group dynamic that provides the resources youth need to reach productive, conscious adulthood. We further seek to awaken society to the needs, promise and value of this overlooked population. Our Vision is of a community where young people are truly seen and not just watched, where society understands and accepts its responsibility in meeting the needs of all young people, and where young people bring their gifts back into their communities as productive members of society.
Description
YMC at its core is a mentoring organization that matches vetted caring adults with youth from underserved communities in Los Angeles with our unique Gift Centered Approach. Our model uses Joseph Campbell's Heroes Journey as a guide for our facilitated group activities, that help promote the mentor-mentee relationship in a community setting. Expert staff provide support, resources, and training for mentors, mentees and their families.
YMC's other programs Stoked City Surf Camp, Urban Oasis Film Academy, ECHO (monthly deep conversation sessions) and yearly Initiation Retreats are part of the soulful healing experience offered to the young people in our mentoring community. We are dedicated and committed to the growth, empowerment and success of our youth for a lifetime - once you are a part of us, you will always be a part of us.
