Veteran Needed as Hospice Volunteers
ORGANIZATION: Compassus
Please visit the new page to apply.
We are looking for Veterans to volunteer with hospice patients who have also served. Volunteering as a Veteran, for other Veterans, provides a unique opportunity to provide support, companionship, and camaraderie. The shared cultural bonds and experiences of Veterans offer a safe space which can help hospice patients heal and reflect. As a hospice Veteran volunteer, your role may be as simple as reading a book, listening to music, talking a walk, playing cards, or holding a hand. Our Veteran patients may need assistance with replacing lost honors and medals, and benefit from the chance to connect with another Veteran. The heart of volunteering in hospice is simply enjoying each others company; time both you & your patient will find rewarding, and their families will greatly appreciate. We are looking for people who want to be the positive change in the world.
Detailed training will be provided at no cost. Training includes classroom time and take home studying. Volunteer placement and time is planned for your convenience!
