Position Overview: EmpowHERto is seeking a dedicated and passionate Development Director to lead our fundraising and development efforts. The volunteer Development Director will play a pivotal role in securing the financial resources necessary to support our programs, initiatives, and the overall growth of the organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team dedicated to uplifting young girls and youth, breaking barriers, and fostering empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with EmpowHERto's mission and goals, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, grant writing, and special events.
- Donor Cultivation: Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations to secure financial support and sponsorship opportunities.
- Grant Writing and Management: Research grant opportunities, prepare grant proposals, and manage the grant application process, ensuring compliance with all requirements and reporting deadlines.
- Event Planning: Plan and execute fundraising events, galas, and campaigns to engage donors, supporters, and the community.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to align fundraising efforts with the organization's strategic goals.
- Database Management: Maintain accurate donor records and manage a donor database, ensuring timely and personalized communication with supporters.
- Budget Oversight: Work in conjunction with the finance team to develop and monitor fundraising budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
- Public Relations: Serve as a spokesperson for EmpowHERto, promoting our mission and fundraising efforts through public speaking engagements, media appearances, and community outreach.
- Stewardship: Implement donor stewardship strategies to recognize and appreciate donors, ensuring their ongoing engagement and support.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing development team, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
- Proven track record in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to think strategically, set goals, and execute plans.
- Proficiency in fundraising software and donor databases.
- Passion for empowering young girls and youth and a commitment to the organization's mission.
