The California Science Center welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are the soul of the volunteer department, and we strive to build a community based on mutual respect, equal treatment, and an opportunity to succeed.
The Youth Volunteer Programs at the California Science Center are designed for high school students seeking to complete their community service hours, seeking to gain workplace skills and give back to their community. Volunteer over the course of one semester (Spring, Summer, or Fall) completing the minimum of 50 volunteer hours.
There are two youth opportunities.
· Guest Service Youth Host
· Education VolunTEEN Presenter
Guest Service Youth Host will provide outstanding customer service while completing a variety of tasks and responsibilities, ranging from welcoming guests as a Greeter to engaging visitors within our exhibits galleries to hosting at the IMAX theater. Youth host act as a concierge to create a memorable and unique experience at the California Science Center. Youth Host can rotate post.

Education VolunTEEN Presenter delivers high-quality, interactive science education stations to school groups and the public visiting the California Science Center. These presentations include using exhibits, artifacts and bio facts to encourage curiously about science topics. The VolunTEEN Presenter is responsible for setting up materials and equipment for stations. These presentations happen in the galleries of the California Science Center. The VolunTEEN Presenter spends almost 100% of the time delivering educational stations. There are limited opportunities to help develop programming
We are currently recruiting for the SPRING 2025 Semester for both positions.

Description
The California Science Center is a modern facility with all-new interactive exhibits and programs, and a seven story IMAX Theater with 3D capabilities. This exciting environment makes for an extraordinary learning experience for guests of all ages. Interested teens and adults can provide assistance in several different ways including stimulating an interest in science by facilitating and encouraging hands-on learning in our educational exhibits; by assisting our curators with the plant and animal life; or by providing our guests with a warm welcome and answering questions. As a California Science Center volunteer you can enjoy many special benefits including free parking, specialized group or individual training, previews of exhibits, invitations to special events and activities. Volunteers also have an opportunity to earn free Explorer Level Membership. The minimum age for volunteers is 16. Opportunities are available 7 days a week and experience is not necessary, only the desire and willingness to be of service, to learn, and share what you learn with our guests.
