This is a great way to help people experiencing homelessness by creating a bedroll out of recycled materials. We serve a variety of needs, including providing survival supplies for people sleeping outside. This opportunity is intended to be done off-site, like at your house, in the office, school, church, etc. These bedrolls provide cushioning between a person and the ground, which is great for someone sleeping outdoors, experiencing housing instability or unsheltered homelessness. It’s also very cheap, ecofriendly, and a great activity to try with friends and family.
Tips:
- If you don’t have at least 500 plastic bags, start a plastic bag drive and collect them from your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers
- You don’t need to have 500 bags to start making Plarn! You can start a drive and begin learning/making Plarn with the bags you have on hand
- The bedroll takes time, especially if you're a beginner, so give yourself ample time to learn and crochet
- If you are experienced, talk to us about crocheting plarn bags and other items!
Materials needed
