Job Description

o Develop or sharpen your grant-writing skills. All levels are welcome.
o Develop creative narrative around the many aspects of story collecting, designed to inform the public in various capacities.
o Apply narratives to various grants applications
o Grant writing strategy
o Communicate with funding agencies and foundations

Apprenticeship (1 year) - 10 hrs/week. 480 hours. At the end of this apprenticeship, you'll have learned the nuance of researching grants databases, finding grant opportunities for specific projects, writing letters of intent, tailoring grant asks to match funder needs and write a complete grants application. You'll acquire critical skills be ready for a career in grant-writing, technical writing, or for your own academic writing.

Internship (Summer 2 months) - 30 hrs/week. 240 hours. Same as 6 months, but full time instead of part time. TWELVE MONTHS POSITION: Position once every year. Apprentice needs to commit a minimum of 10 hours each week. Minimum 12 months commitment. TWO MONTHS POSITIONS: Position opens only for the summer. Intern needs to commit a minimum of 30 hours each week. Minimum 2 months commitment.

In-person position at our Berkeley, California office.

The 1947 Partition Archive is a non-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to institutionalizing the people's history of Partition.

Description

The Partition of British India in 1947 was a major 20th century event that affected millions of lives and played a key role in shaping the world in which we live today, both culturally and geopolitically. Nearly two million lost their lives and 15 million people were displaced, making it the largest mass migration. The 1947 Partition Archive is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the fast disappearing memory of Partition by capturing and preserving the people's history through crowd-sourced oral history collection.
