Latino Equality Alliance is hosting a Thanksgiving Turkey Drive for those experiencing food insecurity in East Los Angeles and we need your help! Become a Volunteer today to help us make this a wonderful, fun celebration!

Why: By volunteering to help with the Turkey Drive, you'll be providing a nourishing meal to individuals and families of a diverse community, offering comfort and community as we approach the holiday season. Your time and support will help create a welcoming space where everyone can receive a meal, connect, and feel cared for. You will help make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Who: Latino Equality Alliance is a project of Community Partners, whose mission is to advocate for safety, equity, and wellness for the Latinx Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer + community. The organization strongly focuses on youth empowerment, family acceptance, educational equity, public health, and civic engagement. Through coalitions, they strive to build power to elevate the LGBTQ+ voices in Boyle Heights and the greater East Side communities of Los Angeles.

What to Expect: LEA will be hosting a Turkey Drive in which volunteers may be asked to do the following:

Aid with the setup and breakdown of the event (tables, canopies, chairs, etc).

Act as a host to greet participants at the door and guide folks through the flow of the event.

Operate the registration table and sign folks in.

Distribute turkeys in an assembly line.

Be responsible to for turkey pick-ups from the distributors.

Be a floater to talk to people and fill any gaps as needed.

All volunteers will receive training the day of.

No experience is necessary!

Water will be provided.

What's Required:

Senstivity and awareness to volunteer in a primarily LGBTQ+ space that is focused on the intersection of the Latinx and Queer community.

A lift requirement of 15-50 lbs (or ask for other tasks from the opportunity coordinator below)

No experience necessary!

Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work (i.e. moving throughout the event, setup and break down, etc.)

Although not required, Spanish-speakers are strongly encouraged to sign up!
