FLATBUSH CATS BACKGROUND:

Flatbush Cats is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to end the cat overpopulation crisis in Brooklyn.

We can only rescue and adopt friendly street cats when they have somewhere to go, so an effective foster and adoption program is a crucial part of our mission. We are seeking two Adoption Coordinator Volunteers to co-lead all aspects of our adoption program.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Adoption Coordinator plays a key role in our ability to help rescue and adopt out as many cats as possible. Adoption Coordinators will conduct virtual interviews and meet and greets with adoption applicants, playing a key role in giving rescued cats permanent homes.

  • Conduct virtual interviews with adoption applicants via Google Meet
  • Submit interview reports to the Adoption team
  • Host virtual meet-and-greets with adoption applicants and foster caregivers
  • Support applicants and adopters with 1:1 coaching, as needed, to ensure a successful introduction of our rescued cats to their new homes
  • Participate in decision process with leadership and foster caregivers
  • Work with Foster Program and Community Cats Program Managers to move cats through the programs efficiently and help identify any roadblocks

BENEFITS OF BEING AN ADOPTION COORDINATOR:

You will be enabling the rescue of friendly cats (by our Community Cats team) from the streets into adoptive homes! This is an opportunity to use your love for both animals and people to help Flatbush Cats’ mission of reducing the outdoor cat population in Brooklyn. Gain valuable skills and experience, and volunteer with a dedicated team of animal lovers.

Flatbush Cats believes that diversity and inclusion among our teammates is critical to our success in achieving our Mission and Vision. Our goal is to be a diverse organization that is representative, at all levels, of the community we serve.
