ORGANIZATION: ACT LIKE YOU MATTER

  • Do you believe that each individual matters and has something to contribute?
  • Should we be educating the whole child?
  • Do SEL programs belong in schools?
  • Could SEL programs for tweens & teens be better designed so that they really resonate with this age group?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, we're looking for you, and we need your help!

We're an SEL program designer that has focused mainly on anti-bullying programs that help build resilience: empowering individuals with tools and strategies to help them (safely and kindly!) take action when they witness or experience bullying behavior. We strive to help each individual discover the power they have, even in situations where someone might be trying to make them feel powerless.

In the past couple of years, we've expanded our focus to incorporate additional elements of SEL, such as:
  • Self-esteem
  • Self-advocacy
  • Self-efficacy
  • Being true to yourself and not letting others pressure you into changing to "fit in"
  • Knowing that you are exactly who you're meant to be
  • Valuing and accepting each individual and the contributions they bring
  • Understanding what it might be like to be neurodiverse

We're seeking educator input to help us:

  1. Enhance our exisiting programs to bring in more student audience interaction/engagement
  2. Design new programs to empower each individual to persevere through challenges so they remain true to themselves, can rise to their full potential, live their best life, and make their mark on the world.
  3. Anything else you think we should be doing to support today's youth!

About ACT LIKE YOU MATTER

Location:

17051 NEW ROCHELLE WAY, SAN DIEGO, CA 92127, US

Mission Statement

To empower young people to find their voice, be part of the solution, and change the way their generation treats each other, so that schools and communities are places of acceptance and tolerance, where empathy and kindness are second nature and each child can rise to their full potential, without fear of being bullied.

Description

Programs & Services:

1. Student led, age appropriate, anti-bullying empowerment assemblies for K-12th (a) on campus at schools in San Diego County and (b) via live-stream everywhere else;
2. Videos and scripts of our programs, available to rent and license on our website;
3. Free Online Resources: Resource videos and positive, empowering social media presence to (a) provide tools & strategies to kids and teens no matter where they live and (b) make sure no one feel alone in what they’re experiencing;
4. Support community on Discord where ages 11-19 can share their experiences and learn from each other about all topics related to being true to yourself and overcoming challenges related to that;
5. Bullying Resilience Coaching services for kids, teens, and parents, including peer support and mentoring;
6. Bullying Prevention Consulting services for schools and businesses.

All of our content, programs, and services are solution focused: providing a wide variety of tools and strategies that young people can use right away to find their voice, overcome bullying, build their resilience, and be part of the solution.

Since 2015, we've worked with 11,500+ students and 700+ teachers through our on-campus programs in Southern California, helping to reduce bullying incidents, foster empathy, and create more inclusive school environments.

We envision a world where every child feels safe, valued, heard, and respected. Whether you volunteer, donate, or spread the word, your support moves us closer to that world.
