JOY 2 THE WORLD is our GRAND Christmas Festival that Central Lutheran Church puts on every year to give back to our clients in the Van Nuys Community. We have a GIANT toy shop for parents to shop for FREE for their kids for Christmas. We have additional activities and freebies such as a photobooth, FREE food trucks, FREE books for kids and teens, meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Las Posadas performances, HUGE RAFFLE, and SO MUCH MORE. We see almost 2,000 people come through our doors so we are in need of MANY VOLUNTEERS filled with Christmas Spirit!

Description

CENTRAL: A small, energetic community working in English + bilingually to empower our neighbors in Van Nuys through love and grace to be who God has made them to be.
Our vision: We want to be people who accept and live in God's grace, who follow Jesus Christ, and who serve others.
January 1929 Central was a mission outreach & became a vital part of serving a wide range of needs through the depression and post-war Van Nuys. It flourished in the 50's-70's but lost its connection with mission, so dwindled.
NOW, for 15 years, hosted homeless services agencies & opened worship to marginalized folk, experiencing loneliness, disconnectedness, & personal trauma.
TODAY: Core of folks serve both persons experiencing poverty & hunger among the housed neighbors + persons experiencing homelessness.

* Basic English Classes (w/childcare);
* Women's Empowerment (w/childcare);
* Kids Community and Support
* Summer kids programs (camp onsite July 2020; Camp opportunities @ mountains late-July 2020)
* Faith & spiritual development-all ages
*WORSHIP for anyone - no limits.
