Recruiting Organization: NEXT for AUTISM

NEXT CONNECTS is a bi-directional mentorship initiative developed by NEXT for AUTISM. The goal is to support young autistic adults entering the workforce while fostering improved acceptance and inclusion within businesses.

NEXT will match professionals who have established careers with autistic college students who will soon be seeking entry into the workforce. Mentors will provide support as well as collaboratively set personalized mentoring goals, promote career advancement opportunities, engage in knowledge transfer, and expand neuro-inclusive practices in the workplace.

WHAT

Last year NEXT for AUTISM tested the co-mentorship concept, and a newly created curriculum. In 2024 we will be launched these elements via a new online platform with self guided eLearning designed to guide critical employment discussions.

WHEN

2024 - Co-mentor pairs can schedule meeting times tp accommodate their schedules and availability. We recommend co-mentors meet bi-weekly for 16-weeks.

WHO

NEXT will recruit established professionals from small, medium, and large-sized businesses to participate. The Professionals will represent a range of departments and job functions, to align with aspiring professionals from Autism Support Programs at colleges nationwide.

WHY

Mentors will get first access to NEXT CONNECTS, receive free training, and gain access to college educated neurodiverse job seekers. Those who complete the program will receive a LinkedIn Certificate

HOW

  • Aspiring professionals and Established professionals will create accounts in our online matching software.
  • Pairs will complete self guided eLearning (15-minutes) designed to guide their discussions.
  • Mentor pairs will schedule weekly video calls based on their availability, and a pre- determined agenda aligned with the weekly topic.
  • Commitment to the program will be an hour every other week for 16 weeks.
  • Pairs are encouraged to continue their relationship beyond the guided program.
