Position: Economic Justice Volunteer Event Organizer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid - In-person & Virtual)
Commitment: 5-10 hours per week
About Austin NOW
The Austin chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) is committed to advancing gender equity and social justice. Our Economic Justice Committee focuses on advocating for policies and programs that address wage equity, financial literacy, paid family leave, and economic opportunities for women and marginalized communities.
Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Volunteer Event Organizer to join our Economic Justice Committee. In this role, you will plan and execute impactful events, including rallies, workshops, and fundraisers, to support our mission of economic equity for all.
Responsibilities
- Event Planning: Design and coordinate events such as community workshops, advocacy rallies, and fundraising activities focused on economic justice issues.
- Logistics Management: Secure venues, arrange for speakers, handle permits, and coordinate event supplies and materials.
- Promotion: Collaborate with the Social Media Coordinator to develop promotional content and engage with the community online.
- Partnership Building: Work with local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations to build partnerships and secure sponsorships for events.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit and manage volunteers to support event setup, execution, and follow-up activities.
Qualifications
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience: Previous experience in event planning or community organizing is preferred but not required.
- Passion for Social Justice: A commitment to advancing economic justice and gender equity.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with committee members and partners.
