Position: Social Media Coordinator
Committee: Ending Violence Against Women
Location: Remote (with occasional in-person events in Austin)
Commitment: 5-10 hours per week
About Austin NOW: Austin NOW (National Organization for Women) is a dynamic chapter committed to advocating for women's rights and gender equality in Austin, Texas. Our Ending Violence Against Women Committee focuses on raising awareness, educating the community, and fighting against all forms of violence impacting women.
Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and creative Social Media Coordinator to join our Ending Violence Against Women Committee. As a volunteer in this role, you will help amplify our message, engage the community, and promote events and educational content across our social media platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and schedule engaging content for Austin NOW’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter).
- Promote upcoming events, workshops, and campaigns related to ending violence against women.
- Create educational posts and infographics to raise awareness on issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
- Collaborate with the committee to highlight local resources and support services for survivors.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments and messages.
- Track analytics to assess the effectiveness of social media campaigns and suggest improvements.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Passionate about gender justice and the mission of Austin NOW.
- Experience with Canva or other design tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
