Position Title: ERA Volunteer Event Organizer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid/Remote opportunities available)
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week (flexible schedule)
Reports To: Committee Lead, Constitutional Equality

Austin NOW is a powerful grassroots organization dedicated to advancing gender equality and reproductive justice. We are seeking a passionate, organized, and proactive ERA Volunteer Event Organizer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in organizing events, rallies, workshops, and fundraisers that support the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) campaign and other initiatives that promote constitutional protections for women.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning and Coordination:
    • Organize events (in-person and virtual) focused on ERA advocacy, including rallies, educational workshops, and fundraisers.
    • Work with the ERA committee to define event goals, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Coordinate logistics such as venue bookings, permits, catering, transportation, and equipment.
  • Collaboration and Outreach:
    • Partner with local organizations, activists, and community leaders to amplify ERA-focused initiatives.
    • Engage with volunteers, supporters, and activists to encourage participation and build a network of advocates.
    • Manage event promotion across social media platforms, email campaigns, and through Austin NOW’s network.
  • Fundraising and Community Engagement:
    • Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns to support ERA advocacy and Austin NOW’s mission.
    • Seek sponsorships and donations from local businesses and organizations to support events.
  • On-the-Day Event Management:
    • Oversee event setup and breakdown, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
    • Manage volunteers and attendees to ensure the event meets its objectives.
  • Post-Event Reporting:
    • Collect feedback from participants and volunteers to improve future events.
    • Assist with event follow-up, thank-you notes, and post-event reports to track impact and success.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Previous experience planning and organizing events, especially for non-profits, advocacy groups, or political campaigns is preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of gender equality issues and the Equal Rights Amendment is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
    • Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Proficiency with social media platforms, email campaigns, and basic event-planning tools.
  • Qualities:
    • Passion for gender equality and constitutional rights.
    • Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive in problem-solving.
    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
