Volunteer Position: Event Organizer

Are you passionate about social justice and looking to make a tangible impact in Austin? The Austin chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) is seeking a dedicated Event Organizer to join our team! This role is crucial in bringing our mission to life by planning and executing impactful events, rallies, workshops, and fundraisers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Coordinate Events: Lead the organization of community events, including rallies, workshops, and fundraisers that align with Austin NOW’s mission and committee goals.
  • Manage Logistics: Handle all aspects of event logistics, such as venue booking, vendor coordination, and securing necessary permits.
  • Promote Events: Collaborate with the Social Media Coordinator and Outreach Liaison to create promotional materials and ensure strong event attendance.
  • Budgeting and Fundraising: Work with the board to develop event budgets and identify fundraising opportunities to support our initiatives.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers to ensure successful execution.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community partners and local organizations to increase visibility and impact.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in event planning, project management, or community organizing.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A passion for social justice and alignment with Austin NOW’s values.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 5-10 hours per week, with increased time during event weeks.
  • Attendance at bi-weekly committee meetings and Austin NOW’s monthly all-hands meetings.

Since our founding in 1966, NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
