Celebrate Planting Season by adding tree canopy at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School. Trees for Seattle and Seattle Public Schools will be planting 6 large trees at Thurgood in the Leschi neighborhood. Join students, parents, and the school community in adding trees to this beloved school.

Please register so we can estimate supplies needed (registration link: https://linktr.ee/thedirtcorps). We hope you'll join us! Please wear close-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothes that can get dirty, and bring a water bottle. Tools, gloves, snacks and water will be provided.

Dirt Corps’ mission is to create access to green careers for all people, working towards a healthy environment, engaged communities, and a sustainable economy throughout the Puget Sound region.

Description

The Duwamish Infrastructure Restoration Training Corps (DIRT Corps) was established in South Seattle in 2015 as a community partnership program to provide on-the-job training for adult workers, specifically encouraging women, people of color, LGBT, and veterans to enroll. The program provides hands-on training with a focus on rain garden and cistern design/build, operations and maintenance, vegetation management, and ecological restoration. We also provide turnkey services in Urban Forestry, Green Infrastructure, and Ecological Restoration.
