A key role within UDS is Internship Director. This key leadership role will oversee and manage the organization’s Internship Program, ensuring a valuable and educational experience for participants while advancing the organization’s mission. The role involves recruiting interns, developing a structured program, providing mentorship, and coordinating internship projects that align with the organization’s goals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for education, mentorship, and fostering future leaders in international relations and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Management: Design and manage the internship program, including setting goals, creating internship project opportunities, and ensuring the program’s alignment with organizational objectives.
- Recruitment & Outreach: Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent from universities, professional organizations, and advocacy groups. Promote the internship program through social media, networking events, and partnerships with educational institutions.
- Selection & Placement: Manage the intern selection process, including reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and matching candidates with appropriate roles within the organization.
- Training & Orientation: Develop and lead orientation sessions to introduce interns to the organization, its mission, and key objectives. Provide interns with the necessary training and resources to succeed.
- Mentorship & Support: Serve as a mentor to interns, offering guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities throughout the internship. Ensure interns have access to leadership and learning opportunities.
- Project Coordination: Oversee and assign projects to interns, ensuring they are meaningful, challenging, and contribute to the organization’s work. Collaborate with department heads to create opportunities for intern involvement in advocacy, fundraising, communications, and operations.
- Performance Monitoring: Track intern progress and performance, providing regular feedback and evaluations. Conduct exit interviews to assess the success of the program and areas for improvement.
- Alumni Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with former interns, fostering a sense of community and encouraging long-term involvement with the organization’s work.
- Event Planning: Organize and coordinate events for interns, such as networking sessions, skill-building workshops, and guest speaker panels featuring professionals in advocacy, policy, and international relations.
- Program Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Executive Director on the status and success of the internship program, including data on intern performance, project outcomes, and overall program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, human resources, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience managing internship or fellowship programs, ideally in a nonprofit or advocacy setting.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Passion for mentorship, education, and youth development.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in recruitment, outreach, or talent management is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to Ukraine’s cause or an interest in international relations and global advocacy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage with young professionals and students.
- Experience with virtual program management is a plus.
