Opportunity: Assistant to the Director at the Sarnath International Nyingma Institute (SINI)
Position: Assistant to SINI Founding Director, Tsering Gellek
Location:
Remote (work from home or anywhere with dependable internet access)
Seasonal (winter) stays of 2-3 months in Sarnath, India, with potential annual recurrence.
Optional opportunity to live at the Ratna Ling Retreat Center, Sonoma County, California. This includes housing and food.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the Director in achieving SINI's vision and goals
Coordinate schedules, maintain databases, handle administrative tasks, and manage basic bookkeeping, including preparing bank wires and transfers
Utilize project management tools and design/layout software
Assist with a wide range of functions, from writing newsletters to organizing documents and meeting records
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., humanities, business administration, communications) or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with Buddhist studies or Eastern philosophies (not always required, but beneficial).
Experience:
Administrative experience in roles like Executive Assistant, Project Coordinator, or 2+ years preferred.
Experience in non-profit or spiritual organizations is a plus, particularly in settings where community engagement is valued.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in project management software (like Google Workspace, Asana, or Trello) and essential design/layout tools (e.g., Canva or Adobe Suite).
Database management experience (e.g., CRM tools).
Basic bookkeeping or budgeting skills, such as proficiency with Excel, QuickBooks, or other accounting software.
Soft Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication: Ability to draft clear, inspiring communications such as newsletters, reports, and emails.
Organizational skills and attention to detail: Capable of handling diverse tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring the accuracy of documents.

SINI is an international Buddhist educational institute based in Sarnath and dedicated to bridging the traditions and innovations of the East and West through innovative, interdisciplinary, and international programs. Founded in 2013, SINI bridges the gap between monastics and laypeople with a hybrid approach that integrates traditional and contemporary aspects of life and learning. Our comprehensive language program for monastics, English for Dharma Purposes, provides cutting-edge tools and world-class learning.
