The Ashtabula Maritime Museum is looking for volunteers who are passionate about non-profit organizations and maritime history. This volunteer opportunity is based at the Ashtabula Maritime and Surface Transportation Museum. The Curatorial Volunteer should be interested in working with artifacts and collections. This position is based on the person's interests or the museum's needs. Some opportunities include cataloging, writing museum labels, and digitizing records.

THE ASHTABULA MARITIME AND SURFACE TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM is dedicated to the preservation, display, and interpretation of Great Lakes harbors, maritime, Coast Guard, and rail history, particularly as it relates to persons, ships, railroad trains, and events that impacted the nation and northeast Ohio in general.
Description
The Ashtabula Maritime Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1984. It is located inside an old lightkeeper's house and is dedicated to preserving the unique maritime history of Ashtabula, Ohio. We aim to increase our awareness of the maritime advancements made in Ashtabula that significantly impacted the shipping of the Great Lakes. Projects include collections management, visitor services, historians, and more.
