The Role: Director of Major Gifts & Philanthropy
As the Director of Major Gifts & Philanthropy, you will play a key leadership role within the Development Team, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, major donors, and philanthropists, securing large-scale gifts that align with the mission and vision of Solution Community. You will help shape and execute the organization’s long-term funding strategies and ensure continued financial support for our initiatives.
Conditions:
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: Part-time (volunteer, pro bono role)
- Contribution Requirements: Minimum 10-15 hours a week; minimum 3 months.
What Will You Do?
- Develop and Implement Major Gifts Strategy: Create and manage a comprehensive major gifts program, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Donor Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with major donors and philanthropists, ensuring a meaningful donor experience while aligning their interests with Solution Community’s mission.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with the Chief Development Officer and other key leadership to shape and execute the major gifts strategy and align fundraising goals with organizational priorities.
- Stewardship & Recognition: Ensure that major donors receive consistent and personalized recognition and stewardship, including regular updates on the impact of their gifts.
- Philanthropic Networks: Leverage your own network and connections to develop new partnerships with individuals and foundations capable of contributing significant financial support.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the Development Team, including grants writers and corporate partnership managers, to identify cross-functional opportunities for fundraising.
- Tools and Technology: Utilize our collaboration tools--ClickUp for project management, Slack for team communication, and Titan Email & Calendar for email and scheduling--to stay organized and keep the donor pipeline moving efficiently.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Proven Track Record in Major Gifts: 5+ years of experience in major gifts fundraising, with demonstrated success in securing significant gifts from high-net-worth individuals or philanthropists.
- Strong Relationship Builder: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with major donors, understand their motivations, and align their giving with our organizational mission.
- Strategic Thinker: Experience developing and implementing successful major gift strategies, including setting goals, tracking progress, and adjusting strategies based on outcomes.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to craft compelling narratives that communicate the impact of Solution Community’s work and inspire philanthropic support.
- Team Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire a team, as well as work cross-functionally with other departments to achieve fundraising goals.
- Technology Savvy: Familiarity with ClickUp, Slack, Titan Email & Calendar, and other digital tools for project management, communication, and scheduling.
