Recruiting Organization: Awamaki

ABOUT AWAMAKI

This is a unique opportunity to dive deep into program evaluation. Our Impact Evaluation Volunteer has the opportunity to learn and carry out high-level work in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.

Monitoring and evaluation at Awamaki consists of a mix of in-person surveys, 1:1 interviews, income data analysis and research. Impact evaluation volunteers will travel to communities to conduct surveys and interviews, then process and analyze that data back at the office. You may also have specific research projects; for example, studying how much time certain weavings take to ensure we are paying a fair price. Impact evaluation volunteers will organize all their work into our team folders and prepare a presentation for staff at the end of their stay, as well as project-specific deliverables. There is ample opportunity to adapt the role according to your interests, and help in other areas of Awamaki's work.

As an Impact Evaluation Volunteer, you can expect to:

  • Conduct surveys, focus groups and interviews directly with artisan partners
  • Collect and analyze data from staff records to monitor impact, for example, analyzing artisan incomes
  • Plan and lead capacity-building workshops in specific topics. Past topics include photography and consent, or women's human rights.
  • Document staff-led workshops and what the participants learned
  • Assist with specific monitoring required by funders
  • Work a minimum of approximately 6 - 9 hours per week at Awamaki's fair trade store in Ollantaytambo (required of all staff and volunteers)
  • Take pictures to share on Awamaki's social platforms (required of all staff and volunteers)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Field research experience
  • Data analysis skills (strong Excel skills preferred)
  • Openness to working in diverse cultural environments
  • Very strong independent worker
  • Strong communication skills
  • Spanish and English proficiency preferred

Room and board assistance, and complete fee waiver, available for volunteers who stay six months or longer.
