Position Overview

As a front desk volunteer, your role is to create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone entering our facility. Below are your key responsibilities and guidelines:

1. Answering Phone Calls

  • Transferring Calls: Ensure callers are transferred to the correct person or department.
  • Answering Basic Questions: Respond to general inquiries, providing accurate and helpful information.

2. Greeting Walk-ins

  • Participants: Welcome and direct participants to their appropriate destinations.
  • General Public: Greet every individual warmly and equally, ensuring a positive first impression.

3. Handling Donations

  • Receiving Donations: Accept incoming donations, following proper procedures for intake.
  • Documenting Donations: Ensure that all donations are logged and handled appropriately.

4. Sign-in Sheets

  • Volunteers: Ensure that all volunteers sign in and log their time accurately.
  • Guests and Participants: Make sure that everyone entering the facility signs in for tracking purposes.

Description

The Kitchen, Inc. brings stability and purpose to people who are homeless through housing and case management services. The Kitchen, Inc. has five programs aimed at ending homelessness:

  • Affordable housing developments provide 222 affordable housing units in the community
  • Emergency Shelter provides a safe place for folks to shelter before they can return to permanent housing
  • Community Housing helps families, individuals, youth, and seniors return to permanent housing and find long-term stability
  • Home At Last serves Veterans and their families who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless
  • Rare Breed Youth Services provides a variety of outreach and case management services to youth ages 13-24 years old.
