Description

History & Goals
Nurturing Roots Parent Academy (NRPA) was founded with a mission to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline by empowering parents, supporting educators, and advocating for systemic change within schools. Based in New Orleans, NRPA focuses on promoting equity in education, supporting students, and building a strong community that can advocate for the success of every child. By fostering parental involvement, engaging with educators, and empowering students, NRPA strives to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all.

Achievements & Impact
Since its inception, NRPA has made significant strides in promoting equity and engagement within schools:

  • Educator Workshops: In a recent workshop, 100% of attendees rated the experience as excellent or good, with 98% finding the content highly relevant. Every participant gained valuable insights into the impact of the school-to-prison pipeline, and 94% expressed interest in partnering with NRPA for future initiatives.
  • Community Events: NRPA hosts events like Parent’s Night Out, where parents connect, relax, and engage in discussions about educational challenges. These events strengthen the parent-school-community bond, creating a network of advocates for educational equity.
