Mission Statement

At Erik's Way, our mission is to create joyful experiences for families impacted by cancer, offering opportunities to build lasting memories amidst the challenges they face. We believe in bringing moments of normalcy and fun into their lives, ensuring that every family has the chance to smile and cherish special times together.

Description

Erik's Way was founded in 2020 as a heartfelt response to the challenges faced by families affected by cancer, inspired by my husband’s battle with undifferentiated sarcoma. During his journey, we experienced the immense support of the cancer community, which motivated us to give back and help others navigating similar hardships.

Initially, we focused on providing unique opportunities for children impacted by cancer. We connected volunteers to read with kids via Zoom, organized special shopping experiences for Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts, and delivered gingerbread houses during the holiday season. These small acts of kindness aimed to bring joy and create lasting memories for families amidst the chaos of cancer treatment.

As demand for our services grew, we recognized the need to formalize our efforts. In July 2023, we officially became a nonprofit organization, allowing us to expand our reach and enhance our programming. Today we host at least four community events each year, mail handmade birthday cards to all of our participants, and include a "Bag of Love" as part of our intake process for new families.

At Erik's Way, our mission is clear: we provide our services free of charge, ensuring that every family feels supported and cherished. Our families have become part of our extended family, and together, we continue to create lasting memories and moments of joy in the face of adversity.
