Cold Springs Camp Host
ORGANIZATION: National Park Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
Chickasaw National Recreation Area has an opening for Volunteer Campground Hosts at Cold Springs Campground from March 1, 2025 - November 6, 2025. Due to its proximity to popular swimming areas, Cold Springs is an active reservation-only campground in the Platt Historic District that needs friendly and proactive hosts. Nearby Central Campground, consisting of ten groups sites, is also serviced by the Cold Springs Hosts. The ability to speak Spanish, although not required, is a selection factor. Experience with recreation.gov is also preferable, but not required.
A Cold Springs campground map can be seen here .
A Central Campground map can be seen here.
Due to workload, couples are best suited for this position, but individuals will also be considered. A three-month minimum during the months of June, July, and August is required. An RV pad with hookups (30 amp electric, water, and sewer) will be provided, but hosts must bring their own RVs. The Host site can also accommodate 50amp with the proper adapter.
Due to the historic structure of the campground, RVs of 32 feet or shorter are preferred.
Hosts will have two weekdays off but must be available for weekends.
Duties include:
· helping visitors make reservations and check in to their campsites
· making sure visitors exit their site at the proper check-out day and time
· informing visitors of campground/park regulations
· giving directions
· cleaning campsites (picking up litter, cleaning fire pits when they become full)
· notifying park staff of issues that require their attention, such as maintenance or enforcement issues
· tracking hours worked
Park staff will provide training and support, as well as all necessary equipment for the position. Hosts will routinely operate a street-legal electric golf cart to travel between Cold Springs and Central Campgrounds.
Please note: shower and laundry facilities are not provided. However, the nearby town of Sulphur has public laundromats that are approximately a ten-minute drive from the campground. The neighboring town of Davis also has laundry facilities.
We are looking for hosts who have strong communication skills, are customer service-oriented, and love being in a beautiful area. Pets are allowed but must remain leashed and attended to when outside.
