Winterfest & the Tunnel of Lights is a yearly event at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the trolley era.

In addition to our evening events, we host daytime special events during some December weekends:

Breakfast with Santa 12/7 8a-9a

Storytime with Santa and Friends 12/7, 12/14 9a-3p

Elf on the Elgin 303 12/8, 12/15 10a-3p

For these events, we are looking for volunteers to:

-Play Santa, Elves, and other festive holiday characters.

-Work snack bar, serve breakfast

-Engage with young (and young-at-heart!) visitors with our craft, and scavenger hunt activities.

-Answer visitor questions regarding membership.

Please join us in offering this experience that has become a tradition for so many during the holiday season.

Mission Statement

To provide a historically accurate educational experience of the trolley era, through the interpretation, preservation, restoration and operation of an electric railway.

Description

The Connecticut Trolley Museum operates an authentic tourist recreation of an early 20th Century electric railway. It has 1.5 miles of main line track and several restored antique trolley cars. Visitors can enjoy trolley rides, guided tours, and exhibits. The visitor's center has a gift shop and an exhibition hall. The property also has a restoration shop, car barns, The Connecticut Fire Museum, and a bus museum. The Connecticut Trolley Museum is owned and operated by the non-profit Connecticut Electric Railway Association, Inc.

  • Must be at least 15
  • 12/7_8a-9a, 12/7, 12/14_9a-3p, 12/8, 12/15_10a-3p
  • 15-17 can volunteer at the Museum under the following rule- The minor must be accompanied by a minimum of two volunteers who are age 18 and older. This applies to all tasks and responsibilities undertaken on the property
