Do you like engaging with local businesses and groups within your community?

Chicago Furniture Bank is looking for volunteers to help spread our mission. We aim to provide dignity, stability and comfort to individuals and families in Chicagoland by providing a complete package of free furniture.

Our biggest need is MORE FURNITURE! The more furniture donations we bring in, the more homes we can furnish.

Ambassadors go around their local neighbordhoods/communities to increase awareness of CFB. Ambassadors will be fully prepared and set up for success by receiving the following:

-A great understanding of CFB and our work

-Detailed information about our impact numbers and talking points

-Marketing Materials/Collateral to reinforce the message

-Support from CFB staff

Ambassadors can choose their level of involvement and schedule. If you enjoy talking about a great cause, consider becoming a Chicago Furniture Bank Ambassador.

About Chicago Furniture Bank

Location:

4801 S Whipple St, Chicago, IL 60632, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the Chicago Furniture Bank is to provide dignity, stability and comfort to Chicagoans that face poverty by allowing clients to handpick an entire home's worth of furniture. Together with our 400+ partner organizations, we help Chicagoans in need by providing complete furnishing packages that turn empty spaces into comfortable homes.

Description

The CFB collects donated furniture and housewares to give to those leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing. We serve the formerly homeless, victims of domestic violence, the mentally and physically disabled, recovering addicts, veterans, and other populations that face poverty through partnerships with 400 local nonprofits. In three years, the CFB has furnished 8,300 homes for more than 18,900 clients, distributing 6,000 tons of furniture that would have likely ended in landfills. CFB currently the largest furniture bank in the country, furnishing around thirteen homes per day with a staff of 33 full-time employees that are primarily hired through nonprofit workforce development programs. We project to fully furnish 3,200 homes for 8,000 people in 2021, with the goal of furnishing 5,000 homes per year by 2023.
