Looking for volunteers to sit on a committee that will be planning our 2025 Walk to Defeat ALS Seattle on 10.11.25. This annual walk helps to raise much needed funds for our local community who is living with ALS. It helps provide much needed loan equipment, care service providers, support groups, funds ALS Clinics and more.

This committee has various roles and can be 3-4 people in each role and we will begin in January 2025. The committees will meet once a month in the beginning and then can divide to sub groups to work on items. All members will be supported by the Development Manager (Viktoria Meyer) and will work closely with her. You can customize your committee role to anything you would like regarding how much time you want to put in to it.. It can be one hour a month to full time if desired. Grab your friends and have them work with you and create long lasting memorible experiences while helping an amazing cause. This is also a great way to meet new friends. The roles I have listed below are not all of the roles, but are a great sampling of them.

  • Volunteer Lead-helps to recruit volunteers for event day and manages them on event day and organizes the volunteers to help load our trucks with supplies for the office to venue and back to office after event.
  • In-Kind Donation Lead-helps to solicit different businesses not only for food/drink donations for 500 people, but also for incentives for our top fundraising teams and raffle items for participants and volunteers on event day!
  • Sponsorship lead-helps to search out local companies through cold calling and connections who are interested in becoming a sponsor and partner with the ALS Association (sponsorships start at $1,500-$20,000).
  • Social Media Outreach of event starting in January-Helps to spread the word to gain interest in event.
  • Media outreach lead-to secure media in the area and make them aware of the event and possibly have them cover event.
  • Wrap around event lead-this person talks to team captains regarding wrap around events to help raise funds for their teams (garage sales, parties, virtual races, volleyball tournaments, basketball tournaments, pickleball tournaments, ugly sweater parties and ice bucket challenges).
  • Ice Bucket Challenge Liason-this person focuses soley on the Ice Bucket Challenge all year. Helps with outreach to local Police, Fire, Ambulence, schools, Clinics, businesses and teams to promote the ice bucket challenge and posts the events on social media. The hope to is promote the Ice Bucket Challenge, to gain more awareness of ALS and to help raise funds for the Seattle Walk to Defeat ALS Seattle.
