The Foster Grandparent Program, part of the AmeriCorps Seniors initiative, is designed to foster connections between older adults and children in our community. Through this program, volunteers like you offer mentorship, companionship, and support to kids who benefit from the experience and wisdom of caring seniors. It’s a meaningful way to give back and make a lasting impact in young lives.
To qualify, please make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Age 55 or older
- Annual income below $31,000 (single) or $41,000 (dual) after medical expenses
- A strong desire to positively impact children’s lives
Our Foster Grandparents volunteer between 10 to 20 hours a week and receive a modest tax-free stipend, along with paid time off and sick time eligibility. Volunteers also commit to pre-service and ongoing training sessions, which are designed to support you both in your role as a Foster Grandparent and in your own personal growth.
