Join Vegan Outreach as Lead Volunteer Organizer for the Vegan Chef Challenge, a month-long celebration of vegan cuisine in your city!

What is the Vegan Chef Challenge (VCC)?
The VCC is a fun and impactful event designed to dramatically increase vegan options in cities across the country. It lasts for an entire month, launching on the 1st of any given month, and for 2025, it can be organized any month between February and October.

Lead Organizer Requirements

  • Organize a VCC with at least two other volunteers
  • Commit to the entire event from start to finish, which takes about 3 months

We are specifically looking to organize VCCs in non-vegan-friendly cities with a metro population between 70,000 and 300,000.

Founded in 1993, Vegan Outreach is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing animal suffering. Through outreach programs such as 10 Weeks to Vegan, the Vegan Chef Challenge, and institutional partnerships, we strive to educate and inspire individuals to adopt a vegan lifestyle. Our efforts focus on making veganism accessible and achievable, emphasizing on support and community-based activism.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 5-10 hours weekly from 3 months before launch to 2 weeks post-event. Weekly hours vary but won’t exceed 10, with some weeks needing less time. Commitment spans ~4 months total, adjusting as tasks ramp up and wind down.
  • The Lead Volunteer Organizer must work with at least two other volunteers of their choosing for the event to be successful. Lead Volunteer Organizers must commit to the entire event from start to finish, which takes about four months
