Volunteer Position: DOOR MONITOR

Commitment Time: 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2025

Description of Volunteer Duties:

Checks in and out with the timekeeper - to receive and turn in volunteer identification.

Works in a team environment with other volunteers.

Interfaces with the event attendees courteously and professionally.

Must wear a provided volunteer identification at all times during the event.

Maintains good communication with their volunteer team.

Brings own cell phone to carry in case of event-related emergencies.

Works closely with the security guards.

Door monitors stand (or sit in a chair when/where appropriate) inside the building stationed at doors leading to the outside. Door monitors are inside building positions.

Monitors essentially manage traffic flow and regulate entry and exit at the event by ensuring proper access, verifying credentials, and maintaining crowd control.

Stanchion (retractable belt barrier): Initially, some door monitors will be stationed at either (west and east) hallway adjoining the foyer to prevent guests from entering the building without a wristband.

Re-directs patrons to enter through the designated entrance (Admissions) at the front of the building to have their tickets scanned and to obtain entry wristbands.

Re-directs volunteers to enter through the correct building side and doors to check in with the Volunteer Breakroom Attendant and Time Keeper to obtain the appropriate identification.

Monitors prevent people from entering the building without a ticket including volunteers. All volunteers must first check-in to receive their identification entering through a designated door.

Monitors only give voice commands; they do not touch people.

Monitors must inform security guards and designated staff of issues when they arise, such as theft, guests trying to enter with outside alcohol, guests carrying out food, and people trying to enter the event without paying.

There will be two door monitors assigned to each door in case one needs to go to the bathroom or when issues arise.

Volunteer Meals (Saturday 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM): Food will be available for volunteers only in the breakroom. Volunteers cannot eat in the auditorium unless they have paid for a dinner ticket (seat). Non-alcoholic drinks are available for free to all volunteers throughout the event. Volunteers are responsible for feeding themselves. Volunteer meals are available for volunteers working an entire Saturday shift or multiple Saturday shifts.
