The UWCP Project Lead oversees the continuance, evaluation, and outcomes of the ongoing Upstate Water Contamination Project. They ensure that the project aligns with WICC’s long-term goals and mission as well as shorter-term project goals. Project Leads have a lot of decision-making power over the project direction--in discussion with the Program Coordinator, Executive Director, and Board of Directors. They report to the Executive Director and have a term of at least one year, preferably longer. Project Leads should also be based near Upstate New York/within New York State. Weekly time commitment will vary with an estimated average of 5-15 hours per week including two weekly virtual meetings. This position is currently unpaid.
Duties
Project Management
- Ensure that the project’s purpose is consistent with WICC’s mission and vision.
- Update a logic model, timeline, budget proposal, and other strategy documents and ensure they are accessible to other WICC staff .
- Monitor and develop measurable outcomes and an evaluation strategy.
- Monitor environmental justice goals with consultation from the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Environmental Justice (DE) Committee.
- Convey changes to, and progresson, the project that deviate from the established project to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Project Partnerships
- Foster relationships with--community leaders, organizations, and agencies to ensure that stakeholders and external project partners have consistent engagement.
- Maintain communication with project partners throughout the project.
- Ensure that project partnership agreements protect WICC.
- Develop community needs assessments with input from stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Establish regular meeting times with all project team members.
- Delegate tasks to project team members.
- Act as the organization’s point of contact during regular virtual meetings for project details, progress, needs, concerns, and ideas.
- Participate in the hiring and interviewing of project team members.
Fundraising
- Regularly communicate project financial needs with the Fundraising Director.
- In collaboration with the Fundraising Team Director, develop and maintain a project budget.
- Draft, review, and approve content for grants before submission for the grant writer(s) assigned to the project.
- Monitor the Grants Calendar spreadsheet and update the Fundraising team on upcoming grants proposals or report due dates.
Marketing and Communications
- Communicate with the Marketing & Communications Director about media release requests.
- Find opportunities for project-related social media posts and develop social media content.
Metrics and Evaluation
- Assess program outcomes and gather community feedback to measure impact through qualitative letters/quotes of support, quantitative data, etc.
- Maintain system(s) to collect, manage, and evaluate data throughout the project to measure success and notice issues.
- Metrics should include both qualitative and quantitative data collection.
