Slow Food East Bay, our local chapter of the global Slow Food movement promoting food that is good, clean and fair with a particular aim of creating connections in our local foodways, is celebrating the diversity of grains this November 10th in Alameda, and we need your support!

This Grains Festival, the first of its kind, will feature seven East Bay chefs cooking up delicious bites focusing on grains, as well as various grain millers, brewers, and advocacy experts. In terms of volunteer needs, we'll need the following:

  • Check-in Volunteers: Welcome guests and check presale ticket holders.
  • Assistant Chefs and Vendors: Help with passing food and assisting chefs as needed.
  • Alcohol Sales Volunteers (must be over 21): Check IDs, hand out wristbands, and sell drink tickets.
  • Setup Volunteers: Help with setup before the event.
  • Wrap-up Volunteers: Assist with clean-up after the event.

If you're available for more than one shift, then by all means sign up for a couple! You'll work with our Slow Food East Bay leadership team and local leaders in our East Bay food system, and get to try some grains in new and delicious ways. And even if you can't make it out to volunteer, we would so appreciate you sharing with your friends and family! We truly hope to see you there in one capacity or another.
