Position Summary: The Finance Director is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring fiscal health, and compliance with legal obligations. Key duties include leading the annual budgeting and planning process, administering and reviewing financial plans and budgets, and managing cash flow and forecasting. The Finance Director will also file annual taxes, maintain the organization’s 501(c)(3) status, and research and calculate Return on Investment (ROI) for potential commitments.

Commitment: Estimated time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexibility based on project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the annual budgeting and planning process

• Administer and review all financial plans and budgets

• Manage cash flow and organizational forecasting

• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations

• File annual taxes and maintain 501(c)(3) status

• Research and assess the ROI of potential commitments

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred

• At least 5 years of experience in financial management and budgeting, ideally in nonprofit organizations

• Proven ability to lead annual budgeting processes and financial planning

• Strong skills in managing cash flow and conducting financial forecasting

• Understanding of legal obligations for nonprofits, including tax filing and maintaining 501(c)(3) status

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel)

• Proficient in assessing Return on Investment (ROI) for potential commitments
