UR Community Cares is a nonprofit, to help the aging and disabled residents in Connecticut. You can see all our programming at www.URCommunityCares.org.
We have an exciting volunteer opportunity for students that may have needs for community service are great candidates, students that want more community service for graduation or just love sports!
Our nonprofit runs a Concession Stand at all the UConn Men’s/Women's Basketball games at Gampel Pavilion. During the 2024/2025 season students can volunteer to help heat pretzels, make popcorn, and sell concessions at a game (see list below). This fundraiser is to support our nonprofit and is a great way to be of service. We are looking for 2 Volunteers for each game.

Mission Statement
UR Community Cares provides the connection that helps older adults and people with physical disabilities live safely at home through community-based volunteer support. Funding covers all direct program costs so services are free for background-checked participants enrolled at URCommunityCares.org.
Description
UR Community Cares digitally connects intergenerational volunteers with age qualified adults (age 70+, or age 18+ with a physical disability) who need assistance at home (temporarily or permanently). As the population of older adults grows dramatically in the upcoming years, we provide resources to support those "aging in place" and help support their caregivers. URCommunityCares.org helps maintain social connections for improved quality of life and health outcomes, at no cost to participants. Currently UR Community Cares has no staff and is 100% volunteer. UR Community Cares has proven that their scalable digital platform connects volunteers to residents in need. Partner organizations can enroll participants as a group such as a high school for students to volunteer together or social workers can enroll members that don't have the internet. We are poised to expand the use of the platform throughout Connecticut and then more broadly to communities nationally.
