Mission Statement

Safe Families for Children seeks to bring the church and community together to keep children safe and families together. Safe Families for Children is rooted in faith, fueled by radical hospitality, disruptive generosity, and intentional compassion, to build a network of caring and compassionate volunteers to support families facing social isolation. Our goal is to support and strengthen families, prevent child abuse and neglect, and reduce the number of children unnecessarily entering the child welfare system.

Description

Founded in 2003, Safe Families for Children surrounds families facing a crisis with a caring, compassionate community. We are a volunteer-driven nonprofit located in over 120 cities in the U.S. providing hope and support to families in our local communities. Safe Families seeks to unite the church and community in supporting families in crisis. Churches of all sizes and contexts can be active partners with Safe Families for Children. Our hope is that all people, regardless of their background, would awaken to the urgent need of struggling families in our community. As Founder Dr. David Anderson says, we are all on "the journey to make the safety of children and the support of parents a priority for us all." When this goal is achieved, communities will thrive.

Our Central Indiana Chapter launched in 2008 out of the desire to build and extend community to our neighbors experiencing crisis. We are passionate about helping keep children safe and families together. We are dedicated to supporting families, preventing children from unnecessarily entering the foster care system and involving the community and church in our mission.
