The Museum of Food and Drink is looking for volunteer docents for our exhibition, Flavor: The World to Your Brain, on show in 2024 and 2025 at MOFAD’s new location in DUMBO. Volunteer docents will provide interesting and entertaining information while assisting visitors of all ages with interactive exhibits. And if you're looking for community, you'll meet some amazing folks here!
Volunteers should expect to commit to one four hour shift per week for the three-month period from November 7th, 2024 through Feb 2nd, 2025. We recognize that this overlaps with popular holiday travel dates and we will accomodate as needed. We are open Thursdays through Sundays from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. There will be opportunities to sign up for additional shifts for programming and events.

Mission Statement
MOFAD takes you on a learning adventure through food with exhibits you can taste, touch, and smell. We advance public understanding of food’s central importance, and we use food as a shared language to inspire curiosity about each other and the world. We pursue our mission by producing multi-sensory exhibitions and programming, preserving and interpreting history, and serving as an academic resource for students and scholars. Our goal is to open the world’s first large-scale, independent food museum.
Description
MOFAD, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, aspires to become the global leader for food education: visitors will learn about the culture, history, science, production, and commerce of food and drink through exhibits and programs that emphasize sensory engagement. When visitors come to MOFAD, they won't just see and touch - they will smell and taste as well.
The time is right for an educational institution that enables people of all ages and backgrounds to make better, more informed choices for themselves, their communities, and the environment. This will be a museum for everyone: food is culture, and the Museum of Food and Drink will show why.
