Bean Creek Focus Neighborhood Great Indy Cleanup

Come together with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and local community members in the Bean Creek Neighborhood to tackle litter at this large cleanup event, with a focus on cleaning up the I-65 underpass between Bean Creek and Garfield Park. Cleaning litter beautifies our city while protecting our local ecosystems, including our soil, waterways, plants, and wildlife, from pollution. Litter prevention is one of the easiest things we can do to keep our city clean, but it takes all of us doing our part. All volunteers will receive a Great Indy Cleanup t-shirt as a thank you for their hard work!

Safety: We highly recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. If you are interested in picking up litter along fence lines, please wear long sleeves and pants to minimize potential poison ivy exposure. We always recommend bringing a reusable bottle for water but we will have disposable cups available if needed. KIB will provide all supplies, such as litter grabbers, gloves, and trash bags. While this event is family friendly, all young children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times due to the proximity of busy roads.

Parking, Facilities + Special Instructions: Parking is available at Garfield Christian Church. Restrooms will be available to use inside the church. *Please note this project may involve driving to a secondary location after check-in, however one group will stay at the Church location to cleanup in the surrounding area.* We will be parking and kicking off the project at Garfield Christian Church. We will then disperse into groups. Once assigned to a group that morning, most volunteers will take a short drive to their secondary location within the neighborhood and park in nearby street parking and meet up with their assigned group leader. At 11:30AM, Volunteers will make their way back to Garfield Christian Church to celebrate and wrap up the project.
