Valleywise health volunteers play a huge role in keeping our patients comfortable, happy and calm while also ensuring our facilities run smoothly and effciently. There are many ways for volunteers to get involved, including reception, patient communication, transportation services, wayfinding, child life, special projects, admin duties, and much, much more.
We are also happy to offer our patients special pet therapy and music enrichment thanks to our enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers. These services can play a major role in making our paitents' treatment more comfortable and easing their stress, anxiety, depression and fatigue.
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, experince levels and skill sets. In fact the diversity of our volunteers is essential to meet the individual needs of every unique person we serve.
Volunteer opportunities are available for adults 18 years and older, with a 100-hour minimum comittment requirment. Applications are accepted year-round for adults, background check and health/drug screening required.
Junior volunteer opportunities are available for 16-17- year-olds with parnetal/legal guardian consent, and a 50-hour minimum commitment is required. Juniors must provide an unofficial transcript from their school. This program is offered during the summer months and provides the option of staying on for the fall and spring semesters after 50 hours is completed.
Summer volunteer opportunities are available between June 1st and August 31st with a 50-hour minimum commitment required.

Description
The newest state of art hospital in Arizona is a 10 -story hospital which has 233 patient rooms, 44ICU rooms and 10 operating rooms. The trauma and emergency department has six trauma bays and 88 treatment rooms, and the Diane and Bruce Halle Arizona Burn Center has 16 adult intensive care beds, 24 adult acute care beds and 10 pediatric care beds. The burn unit is considered to to be one of the top three burn units in the united states. We also have an entire inpatient floor dedicated to pediatric care with its own age appropriate playrooms, and child life department. Valleywise is also a designated Trauma one medical center for the downtown area.
