Started in 2024, the Melbourne Beach Police Volunteer Service Unit (VSU) assists the
department in day to day tasks, freeing the sworn officers to concentrate on protecting our
community.
VSU members are involved in various tasks, including:
- Conducting House Checks for residents that are out of town
- Manning the front desk and answering questions from citizens
- Performing various administrative duties at police HQ
- Assisting in crowd safety at town public events
Requirements:
- Must be 19 years of age
- Pass a background check
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Read, write and speak English. Other languages are a great help too!
- Complete some simple training
