Mission Statement

The Lenny & Millie Foundation (TLMF) was founded on the basic principles of family and its nurturing dynamics in our everyday lives that help shape and guide us through our times of loss and tragedy as well gains and victories. Through our programs of education and development, we provide and offer our youth, young adults, single parents and family community with personal, physical, social, spiritual and economic empowerment. Programs range from S.I.D.S. Education and Care Services to After School Enrichment/Summer Enlightenment to Post-Secondary Education through mentorship and personal development towards growth and success. For when one succeeds, we all succeed together as a family through education, enlightenment, engagement and empowerment... The Lenny & Millie Foundation. "In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past" and a" bridge to our future." -Alex Haley

Description

The Lenny & Millie Foundation (TLMF) was created in memory of Mildred Frances Bannister Whipple aka "Millie" and Lennox Malik Edwards aka "Lenny". "Millie" passed away in 2019 from pancreatic cancer. A short time thereafter in 2020, "Lenny" our first grandson passed away way too soon from SIDS at the age of 5 months old. It was through our loss and grief that the vision was given to educate as many people as we can about SIDS as well as educating those in need from all walks of life about the importance of reading. "Millie" penned her first children’s book entitled "The Adventures of Lenny the Legless Lizard." Her purpose for the book was to encourage readers to face any challenge with confidence, rather than give up and remain fearful of the unknown.

Through education and development, we will provide and offer our youth, young adults, single parents and families in the community with personal, physical, social, spiritual and economic empowerment. It is our vision as we launch and unveil our non-profit that we will fill the needs of many through our vision.
