ORGANIZATION: Chapters Health System (Hospice)

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to support patients and their families at our hospice house. Volunteers provide compassionate care by reading to patients, listening to music with patients, providing a listening ear to families and supporting our clinical team by restocking supplies, answering phones and being a Greeter. Our greeters welcome guests to the hospice house as they arrive and help them find their destination within the hospice house.

We work with your schedule, our hospice house is open 7 days a week. Shifts for greeters are typically 2-3 hours. This is a great way to give back in a meaningful way. You will also meet other volunteers. We are a friendly group and look forward to welcoming new volunteers.

Contact Volunteer Coordinator, Christina Olan at olanc@chaptershealth.org or 863-956-7390 for more information.

About Chapters Health System (Hospice)

Location:

12470 Telecom Drive Suite 301, Tampa, FL 33637, US

Mission Statement

Chapters Health System mission is simple: Delivering extraordinary care to every person we touch in every community we serve. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the seven Central Florida counties we serve: Hardee, Highlands, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk and Sumter, and now in Cobb County, Georgia. If you live in a neighboring county, you can still volunteer. However, all of your volunteer activities will take place in one of our seven counties, typically the one closest to you. PLEASE NOTE: Even if you are interested in several different volunteer roles within our organization, you only need to click on one opportunity during this process. You will have a chance to discuss ALL of your areas of interest during your volunteer training. Thanks!

Description

Chapters Health System volunteers are a vital part of our entire organization, and play an active role in helping to provide the many special comfort and support services that distinguish Chapters Health System.

Our volunteers are special, but not out of the ordinary. They are regular people just like you. They use common sense and understanding. They do not need a medical background. They listen. They care. Volunteers help make a patient's life more fulfilling and satisfying by giving their time, understanding, and support and asking nothing in return. They also provide support to caregivers who are often with the patient 24/7 and may need a much needed break. If direct care is not for you, you can assist with administrative tasks at our office locations, and help out with events and community outreach. Any Chapters Health System volunteer will tell you that they feel they receive more from their experience than they give.

PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers are required to go through a training class with additional training required for some positions. For this reason, becoming a Chapters Health System volunteer is typically not appropriate for court related community service hours or other short-term requests. Ideally, our volunteers commit to at least one year with us providing a minimum of 6 hours of service per month
