The External Affairs VISTA supports the development and implementation of user-friendly and easily accessible digital and printed materials and resources for clients fleeing intimate partner and/or sexual violence in our nine-county service area. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, victims will have improved access to critical information and support services, and the organization will enhance its outreach and engagement capabilities.
Complete a comprehensive assessment of all current materials and resources, identifying key areas for improvement to better meet client needs.
- Review existing materials: Examine all current digital and printed materials to identify outdated or ineffective content.
- Gather feedback: Solicit opinions from clients and staff to gather insights on the usability and effectiveness of current materials.
- Analyze data: Compile and analyze the feedback and assessment data to identify key areas for improvement.
- Outline recommendations: Based on the assessment, create a detailed report outlining specific recommendations for revisions and updates to the materials.
- Present findings: Share the report with key stakeholders, including staff and leadership, to ensure alignment and gather additional input.
- Plan revisions: Develop a timeline and action plan for implementing the recommended changes, ensuring that all updates are aligned with the organization’s goals and client needs.
Develop a comprehensive work plan to implement the recommended revisions to materials and resources.
- Identify key tasks: Break down the recommendations into specific, actionable tasks that need to be completed.
- Set milestones: Establish milestones and deadlines for each task to ensure timely completion.
- Identify key staff: Determine the staff members responsible for each task.
- Develop SOPs: Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each task to ensure consistency and quality.
- Train staff and volunteers: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for staff and volunteers to prepare them for the implementation phase.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented revisions and make any necessary adjustments to ensure ongoing improvement and client satisfaction.
- Track progress: Regularly review the implementation of the revised materials and resources to ensure they are being used effectively.
- Collect input: Solicit feedback from clients and staff on the revised materials and resources to assess their effectiveness.
- Implement changes: Based on the feedback, make any necessary adjustments to the materials and resources to further improve their usability and effectiveness.
Develop sustainability strategies. Train staff for long-term implementation. Establish a feedback loop.
- Create a maintenance plan: Outline procedures for regularly updating and maintaining the materials and resources.
- Conduct training sessions: Provide comprehensive training for staff to ensure they are equipped to maintain and update the materials.
- Develop a knowledge transfer plan: Ensure that knowledge and skills are passed on to new staff members.
- Set up a regular review schedule: Create a schedule to review the effectiveness of the materials and make necessary adjustments.
- Create a feedback system: Implement a system for ongoing feedback from clients and staff to continuously improve the materials.

The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all genders who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.

The Center for Women and Families offers services to all survivors of intimate partner abuse or sexual violence. Our clients include men and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in addition to women and dependent children. We provide a variety of residential and nonresidential services including emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling and advocacy.
