Volunteer Opportunity: Speech Therapy in Ghana - $2,500

Are you passionate about helping children with special needs and eager to explore the vibrant culture of Ghana? Affinity Access International (AAI) offers a unique opportunity to provide speech therapy at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, located in the historic Asante Region.

Make an Impact:

As a volunteer, you’ll work closely with local healthcare professionals, helping underserved children improve their communication skills and enhance their quality of life.

What You’ll Experience:
  • Historic Landmarks: Explore the Manhyia Palace Museum and Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, learning about the rich history of the Ashanti Empire.
  • Festivals and Traditions: Immerse yourself in local culture by participating in traditional Asante ceremonies like Akwasidae, and be captivated by the vibrant celebrations.
  • Cuisine: Enjoy authentic Ghanaian dishes such as fufu, jollof rice, and a variety of fresh tropical fruits.
  • Natural Beauty: Discover the breathtaking landscapes of Lake Bosomtwe, the serene Bobiri Forest, and more!

Description

Affinity Access International (AAI), founded in 2019 in Seattle, Washington, USA, by Krobea Asante Adomako, is dedicated to transforming the lives of children with special needs in Ghana. Witnessing the challenges faced by these children, Krobea established AAI to provide free, high-quality speech therapy and essential services to underserved communities.

Our mission is to empower children and foster inclusive communities. We achieve this through accessible speech therapy, capacity building, and global collaboration. Our key programs include:

  1. Free Speech Therapy Clinics: Delivering life-changing therapy sessions at local schools and clinics.
  2. Training and Capacity Building: Equipping over 300 caregivers and educators with vital skills to support children effectively.
  3. Inclusive Education: Promoting essential life skills and social integration for children with special needs.
  4. International Volunteering: Welcoming passionate volunteers from around the world to share their expertise and enrich our mission.

To date, AAI has positively impacted the lives of over 2,864 children, raising awareness and fostering acceptance of special needs within the community.
