ORGANIZATION: AUTISM FOUNDATION

Join us in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at the Fan Expo New Orleans by volunteering in our Quiet Room! This space is designed to provide a calming and supportive atmosphere for individuals on the autism spectrum and others who may need a break from the bustling event.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Quiet Room: Oversee the space during your shift, ensuring it remains a safe and peaceful environment for attendees.
  • Support Participants: Welcome guests, assist them if they have any additional needs, and provide guidance on available resources.
  • Maintain the Room: Keep the area tidy and organized, replenishing any sensory materials as needed.
  • Engage with Families: Offer information about the services available and encourage families to utilize the space for relaxation.

Shift Details:

  • Duration: Volunteers will work in shifts of 4-5 hours.

  2. 2:15pm-7pm

Qualifications:

  • A compassionate and understanding demeanor, especially towards individuals with sensory sensitivities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Prior experience with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus, but not required.
